Romances with LGBT characters and themes.

Although many stories have romantic elements, the most widely accepted definition of the romance genre is stories that place their primary focus on a romantic relationship and have an emotionally satisfying and optimistic ending. The main romantic pair should finish the story either living "Happily Ever After" (HEA) or "Happily For Now" (HFN).

This makes gay, lesbian, and bisexual romances an excellent and generally safe choice for those tired of tragic LGBT tropes such as Dead Lesbian Syndrome.
