Jack Benjamin (Sebastian Stan) was a character in the short-lived 2009 television show Kings, which was based loosely on the Biblical story of David but set in an alternate universe version of the modern United States that was ruled by a king. Jack Benjamin stands in the role of the Biblical Jonathan. Some scholars have suggested that the relationship between David and Jonathan may have been romantic or sexual in nature and perhaps in reference to these claims, Jack Benjamin is gay and in a relationship with another man (Joseph Lasile, played by Michael Arden) in the show. However, unlike Jonathan, he does not immediately befriend David and in fact served in the role of antagonist to David for much of the series, prompting accusations from some LGBT fans that the relationship was "de-gayed"[1].
