Peggy Carter is a character in Marvel comics, films, and television shows. On film and television, she is played by actress Hayley Atwell. Though best known as the love interest of Steve Rogers (Captain America) and co-founder of SHIELD (with Howard Stark), Peggy became the focus of a fan campaign to make her bisexual due to the popularity of non-canon femslash ship Peggy Carter/Angie Martinelli (aka Cartinelli) in the Agent Carter fandom. Although Atwell expressed support for the campaign[1][2], scheduling conflicts for actress Lyndsy Fonseca allowed Angie to appear in only one episode of Agent Carter season two, and Peggy's canon love interests remain exclusively male to date.
